Why Local 393 is on a strike countdown
ParaMed home care workers are counting down to a strike deadline of January 27, 2023. ParaMed pays PSWs and HSWs $16.67 to $19.70 per hour.
ParaMed’s insulting offer during record inflation:
- 8 cents/hour in year 1 to workers earning $16.67
- Nothing at all for 3 years for workers earning $19.70
ParaMed is the largest home care corporation in Canada, owned by for-profit giant Extendicare. They got a 5% increase in government funding last year.
They can afford to pay a living wage.
