OPS Unified pay equity: what you need to know

Official Position Information Questionnaire (PIQ) Launch! – October 2025

Your OPSEU/SEFPO OPS Unified Pay Equity team is excited to announce the official launch of the OPS Unified Pay Equity Position Information Questionnaire (PIQ)!

Our official bulletin outlines how members were selected, what to do if you weren’t selected but want to volunteer and why your participation is important.

The PIQ is a questionnaire that details important aspects of your job, the skills and effort required to perform the work that you do, the responsibilities assigned to your role and the working conditions under which your work is performed.

The Position Information Questionnaire (PIQ) has been sent out to selected Participants by the OPSEU/SEFPO PE & CC Project team from noreply@qemailserver.com. Please note: This a legitimate initiative. It is not a scam or phishing attempt.

The Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) Unified has been working collaboratively with the employer on this project for several years through a Joint Pay Equity and Job Evaluation Committee. The goal of this initiative is to ensure that all positions are accurately evaluated and fairly compensated.

While a PIQ is not mandated by legislation, using the Employer’s job descriptions to evaluate jobs is inappropriate given that many are outdated and no longer reflect the duties performed in the workplace. For this reason, your Union team has advocated for the use of a comprehensive PIQ to ensure that our members have a voice in the process. After all, who better to describe the duties and responsibilities of the job than those folks who are on the ground level performing the work on a daily basis?

Your information is essential to developing a clear and accurate understanding of each role across the organization.

While participation in the PIQ is not mandatory, the Union strongly encourages all selected members and volunteers to complete it. Your insights are critical to this process, and we want to ensure that your work is fully represented.

Please note:

The Manager Feedback Form is intended solely to provide additional context. Management cannot alter your responses on the PIQ.

There is no risk of reprisal for completing the questionnaire. You are simply providing factual information about your duties.

The data collected will also support the updating of job descriptions in a later phase of the project.

Your participation is an important part of ensuring fairness and transparency in how positions are evaluated. Thank you for taking the time to contribute to this important process.
