LBED – Winter 2025 – ECHO – Holiday Greetings

A message from your Chair,

Greetings,

As we navigate through our busy season in an increasingly competitive and challenging marketplace, I want to remind everyone to work at a safe and controlled pace.  It’s far too easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the season resulting in injury.  Work smart, be safe; your health should always be your first priority.

In November, LBED delegates came together from across the province to attend the Broader Public Service Conference, which was a two-day sector meeting. Delegates, alternates and observers engaged in fruitful debate and wholesome discussion. This weekend also included elections for the LBED 2025-2027 executive and committees. You can read more about the new LBED Executive committee here.

I am proud that so many members offered themselves for election.  Whether it was for an officer or committee position, this election had the highest participation in recent memory.  I attribute the renewed interest and high engagement to three big factors: the Education Day we held in September, our strike that brought forward thousands of new activists, and finally, our members simply rock!

It was an involved two days; it’s no secret that our sector has the most elected positions in OPSEU/SEFPO. This is a testament to the importance of the work we do and a compliment to our activists across the province. Speaking of compliments, I would like to thank outgoing Divisional Executive members, Jeremy Trainor L378, Rachel Brunet L4100 and Jamie Kensley L681 for your dedicated service. Your contributions have been invaluable and will not be forgotten.

On behalf of everybody on the LBED Divisional Executive, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family the very best this holiday season.

Peace, love and happy holidays.

Colleen MacLeod (L5107), Chair
