College Part-Time Support Staff Bargaining Update: We’re back in bargaining Thursday, fighting for our futures on International Workers’ Day

Bargaining Bulletin #10:

Thursday, May 1 is International Workers’ Day (May Day) – and it’s also the day we head back to the bargaining table for conciliation. Let’s rally together to drive home our key demands that uphold the dignity of our work: real wage increases, paid sick days, job security, equal pay for equal work, and more.

Here’s what you can do to support bargaining this week:

1. Take the pledge to support a contract that includes a fair wage increase and paid sick days for ALL part-timers!

2. Join a Day of Action near you! Locals across Ontario are holding Days of Action all the way through to May 1st – reach out to your part-time steward or Local President to find out more.

3. Pick up your “Part-Time Power” swag! Reach out to your Local President to pick up our new “Part-Time Power” t-shirts, buttons, and “Forget Me Not” pins to wear in the lead up to May 1st, reminding the employer that you stand behind our bargaining demands and your bargaining team.

4. On April 30th and May 1st, wear blue! Let’s send a strong message of support that workers stand behind Part-Time Power.

5. Fill out our survey and help us answer your bargaining questions!

The lesson of May Day is the very same lesson of organizing to win: when we fight at the bargaining table, or take to the streets, we fight for all of us. Every contract negotiation and every organizing campaign shapes our collective future, deciding whether we go forwards or backwards together.

That decision is in our hands. As we head into Thursday, and what lies beyond, we can each do our part to show up for each other and the dignified future we deserve!

In solidarity,
