Carbon Monoxide will hide. Protect what’s inside!
Did you know?
Carbon Monoxide (CO) is considered the leading cause of unintentional poisonings in Canada.
A CO alarm must be installed in each of the following locations in a house:
- Adjacent to each sleeping area.
- On every storey of your home, including storeys that do not have sleeping areas (in effect on January 1, 2026).
Follow these important safety tips to protect yourself and your loved ones:
- Keep objects designed for outdoor use outside.
- Ensure your fireplace, wood stove and heating devices undergo proper use and care.
- Keep exhaust vents clear.
- Don’t keep your vehicle’s engine running in a garage – even in a detached garage or with the garage door open, this is still a risky activity.
- If you suspect a CO leak, leave the building and call 911 from a safe area.
