A holiday message from OPSEU/SEFPO

We wish you a very Happy Holiday and a joyful New Year!

Friends,

As the end of the year approaches, we want to take the time to wish all OPSEU/SEFPO members and their families a happy holiday and a restful end of the year.

There is no question that 2025 was marked by enormous challenges for OPSEU/SEFPO members, workers, and communities in Ontario. Layoffs and cuts, heavy handed return to office mandates, understaffing alongside the continued pressure of a cost-of-living crisis and creeping privatization continue to make the lives of Ontarians – and our members – harder.

And yet, this year has also been one of incredible unity and solidarity. 2025 saw increased partnership within and across divisions, as we deployed new strategies, organized in new ways, and showed up for one another.

Let us each remember that, as trade unionists, we are never alone. Together with 200,000 OPSEU/SEFPO members, we are united in our fight for a better and more just Ontario. It is this steadfast commitment to working together, shoulder to shoulder, that will sustain hope that must be central to our movement as we enter a New Year.

We know that for many OPSEU/SEFPO members, work doesn’t stop around the holidays. Many of you will be on the job throughout this period taking care of Ontarians and making sure they continue to have access to the services they need. Your dedication and commitment are points of pride for us all, and hope you too can take moments to slow down, and spend time with your loved ones.

On behalf of all of OPSEU/SEFPO, we hope everyone can enjoy this holiday season, that it is marked by rest, joy and relaxation as we close the chapter of 2025 and ready ourselves to fight another day. We look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.

With warmth, care and solidarity,

JP Hornick
