OPSEU activists and local musicians the Dyers Bay Swamp Stompers joined developmental service workers at Bruce Peninsula Association for Community Living for a lively information picket Friday Oct. 22 in Wiarton.
The members, who recently voted 80 per cent to strike if necessary, were joined by Regional VP Mike Grimaldi, ABM Eddie Almeida, and a host of activists including Peter Shaw, President, Local 250; Linda Isbester, Treasurer, Local 250, Carolyn Elder, President, Local 235; Donna van Eck, a mobilizer from local 266 and many others.
The picket was held to raise public awareness of the possibility of a strike over two main non-monetary bargaining issues: management doing the work of the bargaining unit, and rules for hiring by seniority.
