Orientation for Local Presidents – May 16-18

OPSEU is holding two Orientation for Local Presidents sessions in May 2016.

Each three-day workshop is an orientation for OPSEU local presidents to aid them with their leadership roles within the union. The session will help local presidents navigate OPSEU’s organizational structure, systems, supports and resources.

Participants will strategize on building an involved membership through steward development and contract enforcement with a focus on health and safety and equity as everyday local issues.

Attention will be given to mobilizing the local through effective communication, developing an inclusive leadership, exploring local by-laws, and developing strategic approaches to deal with employer tactics.  Practical leadership skills to everyday situations will be developed through group work and interaction and networking with other local presidents.

If you are unable to attend this orientation, there is additional  3-day workshop May 11-13, 2016.

Location:
OPSEU Head Office, Theatre, 100 Lesmill Road, Toronto, Ontario
