Support striking workers at Local 249 – Central West Specialized Developmental Services

Striking workers at Local 249 – Central West Specialized Developmental Services (CWSDS) need your support! They are fighting for a fair deal and against bad boss tactics that have created unsafe conditions.

More than 240 OPSEU/SEFPO members at CWSDS went on strike after management created an untenable situation for clients, their families and workers. Instead of bargaining for a fair deal, management filed for “No Board,” relocated clients from group homes to a crowded central location, forced workers to train temporary agency staff, suspended multiple staff, made unilateral changes to breaks and schedules, and forced a “last offer” vote. Workers had no choice but to strike.

They want to reach a fair deal and get back to work supporting their clients.

Help them hold the line and fight back against a bad boss. As members enter week three of a strike and the holidays approach, your support can make an incredible difference.

We urge Locals to donate funds for workers in Local 249 who need our support.

Here is how you can support:

  1. OPSEU/SEFPO now accepts electronic bank transfers! You can e-mail a donation to L249 to etransfer@opseu.org. Please note your Local # and donation recipient in the e-transfer message, like so: “Local ____: Donation to L249.”
